ASSYNT

Assynt, a parish in the North-West Highlands of Scotland, provides a landscape of rugged, natural beauty and geology dating back 3000 million years. The wild, open spaces comprising of tracts of moorland, ancient rock and fresh water lochans also play host to several small communities where the population numbers one person per one hundred acres. Community land ownership plays a vital part in maintaining a carefully balanced program of conservation and restoration in keeping with it’s status as a recognised Geopark where subtle interventions within the landscape allow man’s presence to exist in harmony with its surroundings.
